Your Mac's battery,
finally visible.
MacWake is a free battery health and charge limit app for macOS. It lives in your menu bar — charge limit, Sailing Mode, energy mode, temperature, fan control and a live 3D model of your Mac, in one quiet place.

Open the DMG and drag MacWake to your Applications folder.
Your Mac, inside out.
The panel opens on a live 3D model of your own Mac. Battery cells fill with the charge, the chip and SSD glow by temperature, the fan spins at its real speed, and MagSafe lights up while charging. Click a part to fly in; drag to turn it.
🔋 Every part is live
Charge, health, cycles, chip and SSD temperature, fan speed and MagSafe power — read straight from your Mac.
💻 It's your Mac
Air, Pro 13/14/16, Mac mini, Mac Studio and iMac, drawn to Apple's published dimensions, notch measured from your screen.
🎨 Your colour
macOS doesn't record the enclosure colour, so click the display and pick the finish you actually own.
Lives in your notch.
On notch MacBooks, MacWake blends into the hardware. Hover to expand — live power, battery health, temperatures, and a Shelf you can drop files onto.
Everything your battery wants you to know.
Live 3D Model
Your exact Mac in 3D at the top of the panel — battery cells, chip heat, fan and MagSafe all driven by real readings. Click a part to zoom in, drag to turn.
Charge Limit
Cap charging at 50–95% to cut long-term wear, across the full Apple Silicon M-series. Picks the best method your Mac actually supports. Where the SMC offers a charge-inhibit key, charging pauses and the Mac stays on adapter power; where it doesn’t (M4 and later so far), the limit is held by cutting adapter input, so the battery discharges down to it. Settings tells you which one you have.
Manual Discharge
Drain to a level you pick while plugged in — a charge limit can only stop charging, this brings a Mac sitting at 95% back down. Charging resumes on its own.
Settings, organised
Charging, Display, Alerts, General and More — every setting has exactly one home, each with a one-line description of what it does.
Sailing & Calibration
Drift the battery in a band instead of micro-charging, plus a deep calibration cycle (discharge → full charge → hold) you start manually after confirmation, to keep the gauge accurate.
Command Line
Install the macwake CLI and control charging from Terminal — status, charging, adapter, energy, fan.
Energy Mode
Switch macOS Energy Mode — Automatic, Low Power, or High Power — straight from the menu.
Manual Fan Speed
On Macs with fans, set a target RPM. Reverts to automatic above 92°C as a safety failsafe. Experimental.
Dynamic Island & Shelf
On notch Macs, a live panel with a Shelf: drop files to park them, grab your last copied text.
Custom Menu Bar
Show exactly what you want — icon, battery %, power, time remaining, temperature — with a live preview.
Temperature Alerts
Notified when battery temperature climbs past 42°C — before sustained heat shortens capacity.
Health Decay Log
A timeline of your battery's maximum capacity. Watch the trend and know when to act.
Fast Drain Detection
Catches sudden 5%+ drops after wake-from-sleep and alerts you to runaway processes.
Plugged In All Day
Staying at 100% for 24+ hours degrades lithium. MacWake warns you before it adds up.
5 languages
English, Türkçe, 简体中文, 日本語 & 한국어 — follows your macOS system language, or pick one in Settings.
100% Private
No cloud, no account. Your battery data never leaves your Mac. The direct download sends only anonymous usage counts; the App Store version sends nothing.
Questions, answered.
Is MacWake free?
Yes. MacWake is free to download and use, with no account, no subscription and no ads. The source code is on GitHub.
What’s the difference between the App Store and direct download versions?
Both are free. The direct download is the full app: charge limit, Sailing Mode, manual discharge, fan control, CPU and SSD temperatures, the command-line tool and the live 3D model. The Mac App Store version runs in Apple's sandbox, which doesn't allow the helper or sensor access those need, so it focuses on monitoring — battery health, history, the widget, alerts and the Dynamic Island — and is updated through the App Store. See the comparison table.
Which Macs does MacWake support?
Any Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple Silicon or Intel — the download is a Universal build. Charge control (charge limit, Sailing Mode, manual discharge, calibration) needs Apple Silicon; monitoring, health history, sessions and the widget work everywhere.
How does the charge limit work on M4 Macs?
Where the Mac exposes a charge-inhibit key, MacWake simply pauses charging and the Mac stays on adapter power. On M4 and later, the only mechanism is cutting adapter input, so the battery runs down to the limit while the cable stays attached. Settings shows which method your Mac uses.
Does MacWake need an administrator password?
No password prompts. Charge control uses a small notarized background helper that you approve once in System Settings. Battery monitoring needs no special permission at all.
What is the 3D Mac model?
Since version 1.94 the menu panel opens on a live 3D model of your own Mac — detected automatically and drawn to Apple's published dimensions. Battery cells, chip and SSD temperature, fan speed and MagSafe charging are all driven by real readings. Click a part to zoom in, drag to turn it.
Does MacWake collect my data?
Your battery data stays on your Mac. The direct-download version sends anonymous usage signals through TelemetryDeck, with no personal data and no advertising identifiers; the Mac App Store version sends nothing. Details are in the privacy policy.
How do I install MacWake?
Run brew tap Jarvis322/tap and brew install --cask macwake, or download the notarized DMG and drag MacWake to Applications. Existing users get new versions through Check for Updates.
Start protecting your battery.
Free either way. Pick the version that fits how you use your Mac.
Direct download

Mac App Store
Battery health, history, widget and Dynamic Island, installed and updated by the App Store. Apple's sandbox doesn't allow the helper or sensor access, so charge control and fan features aren't in this version.
